Collagenase used for wound closure

Collagenase.
Collagenase is an enzyme composition used for wound closure and other purposes. In 1995 Nordmark started producing sterile collagenase by biotechnology in accordance with international GMP quality requirements. In-process controls at every manufacturing stage, scrupulously reviewed manufacturing documentation, monitoring of production areas and final quality control procedures guarantee reproducible high-quality production and ensure compliance with international regulatory requirements.

Production
Nordmark is the world's largest collagenase manufacturer. The company operates a production plant entirely dedicated to manufacturing this enzyme product.
Collagenase production involves three stages:
  • Fermentation
  • Purification
  • Aseptic lyophilization and puverization of sterile filtered collagenase
Our producer is a specifically selected non-genetically modified microorganism strain which is characterized by its high productivity.

Application
Collagenases play an important role in many body processes, including wound healing. These enzymes are synthesized and excreted on demand by various cell types such as neutrophils, macrophages, fibroblasts and keratinocytes.

The collagenases produced in Uetersen are used in analytical and medical laboratories in addition to their use as an active drug substance in medicinal products. Lab applications include cell disintegration. Our many years of experience in collagenase manufacture culminated in the development of a patented process allowing us to manufacture highly active, stable collagenases for use in this application as a biochemical agent for medical requirements.
